We know that altruism and philanthropy benefit recipients and the communities where they live, but charitable activity also has tremendous benefits for the giver. As Ralph Waldo Emerson writes, “It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.” In this presentation, you will be oriented to the many benefits of altruism and philanthropy to the giver.

Drawing upon recent scientific evidence, this presentation will share the psychological, spiritual and health benefits of giving, along with compelling information on the valuable role of philanthropy in training the next generation, inoculating them from “affluenza” and paving the way for more successful wealth transition.

The presentation will also provide the economic benefits of philanthropy in the U.S. and will illustrate these through case studies that show the power of smart giving strategies - and share some inspiring stories of magnificent legacies left by ordinary people through their estates.

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated, we must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service. The grant allowed our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.

My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. He told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.
