SUMMARY:Powerhouse Boards (Wenatchee): Training that transforms your board
DESCRIPTION:Pybus Public Market \nWenatchee\, WA \nTuesday\, May 12 | 4:00PM – 8:00PM \n$20 for an individual ticket \n$50 for a group ticket | Bring a group of 4 from your organization and save! \nDinner provided! Come ready for an engaging session filled with conversation and connection. \n \n \nPOWERHOUSE BOARDS\nTraining that transforms your board\n  \nPowerhouse boards bring an energy to their work. They make good decisions on behalf of their mission. They are nimble\, influential\, effective\, and connected. You may have seen such a board in your community—maybe you serve on one. If so\, you know the joy that comes when a group of people comes together and really makes a difference. \nLet’s dive into the three chapters of board leadership that every nonprofit needs to thrive: \n  \nBuild an effective board \nWe’ll start at the beginning—clarifying your organization’s core purpose and identifying the people who can help you achieve it. By the end of this session\, you’ll be able to clearly explain what you do and why\, connect that purpose to board recruitment\, and outline a plan to attract the right people for your board’s future. \nKnow the job: Roles and responsibilities \nThe right people will shine when they understand their role and have the skills to do it well. This includes knowing how to read financial statements and staying compliant with state and federal laws. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities your board members hold\, the ability to “speed read” a balance sheet and income statement\, and the confidence to meet your legal and fiduciary obligations. \nWork well together \nBoards juggle a lot\, so this session focuses on how to make collaboration easier and meetings more productive. You’ll learn practical tools for decision-making\, effective committee work\, and engaging every board member in fundraising. You’ll leave with ready-to-use ideas to strengthen teamwork and bring in more resources to advance your mission. \n  \n \nABOUT THE PRESENTER\nNancy Bacon is a nonprofit educator and learning strategist who has spent over 25 years turning complex ideas into practical\, actionable learning for nonprofit leaders. She has developed and led hundreds of workshops on board leadership\, fundraising\, and organizational effectiveness. Nancy draws on her experience as a nonprofit executive\, board member\, and consultant to make learning relevant and immediately useful. She holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington’s Evans School and co-hosts the Nonprofit Radio Show. \n  \nThe Nonprofit Practices Institute (a partnership of the Icicle Fund and the Community Foundation of NCW) and Thriving Together NCW are co-sponsoring this training. \n \n
