SUMMARY:Navigating Worker-related Rules in Washington State
DESCRIPTION:Navigating Worker-related Rules in Washington State\n\nWhat every nonprofit needs to know to be compliant with Washington State Department of Labor & Industries rules \n\nTuesday\, June 18\, 2024\n12:00 – 1:00 pm Pacific\nHow do I figure out who can be exempt from overtime pay?\nWhat are the rules related to paying interns to take on projects?\nDoes safety and health law apply to all volunteer organizations?\nAre you telling me that my organization needs an Accident Prevention Program even though we all work from home?\n \nNonprofits are required to follow worker-related laws in Washington. That means that every nonprofit needs to know what those laws are and how they relate to their work serving their community. \nNavigating Worker-related Rules in Washington State provides an overview of what you need to know and why. During this session\, we will walk through the three types of worker-related rules overseen by the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries: work standards\, safety and health\, and workers’ compensation. You will learn what nonprofit employers need to do to stay compliant in Washington State. You will hear about common challenges\, as well as opportunities that you may have not known about. Share your experiences with colleagues and leave the session with a few action steps to move forward within your organization. \nThis workshop expands on the resources available through the new Nonprofit Labor & Industries Navigator resource\, developed by nonprofit educator Nancy Bacon in partnership with the Department of Labor & Industries for employer outreach and education. To learn more\, visit www.nonprofitlearning.center/LNI.\n \n \nCost\nFREE. There is no charge for this event. \n \nAbout the Presenter \nNancy Bacon is a teacher\, instructional designer\, and learning strategist who has worked for over 25 years in the nonprofit sector. She created many popular nonprofit learning programs\, including Boards in Gear\, Finance Unlocked for Nonprofits\, the Nonprofit Safety Hero\, and Disaster Planning for Nonprofits. Nancy has worked closely with Washington State Labor & Industries and the Nonprofit L&I Navigator team to produce this learning resource. She specializes in turning complicated information into actionable next steps. www.nancybacon.com \nSponsored By:   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
