Helping Hands Grant Awards

The Helping Hands Grant was retooled in 2020 to meet the unexpected and emergent needs of nonprofits impacted by Covid-19. Funds donated from June 2020 – December 2020 were matched by the All in WA statewide campaign. The grant continues to support nonprofits as they navigate through effects of the pandemic, while they continue to provide services and plan for reemergence.

May 1, 2021 – $24,000

  • Family Health Centers – $4,000 Hypertension Self-Monitoring Blood Pressure project
  • Friends of the Twisp Pool – $20,000 Reopening support

March 1, 2021 – $10,000

  • Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho – $10,000 Mobile Covid-19 health clinics for Latinx farm/agricultural industry workers, providing bilingual, culturally-responsive services including COVID-19 testing, education, vaccinations, along with other primary care services.

February 1, 2021 – $55,000

  • Heritage Heights at Lake Chelan – $30,000 Support for nonprofit senior living facility as they navigate the impacts of Covid-19 on reduced occupancy and adapting operations
  • Wenatchee for Immigrant Justice – $25,000 Helping immigrant families impacted by the pandemic with rental assistance and basic needs

January 1, 2021 Awards – $102,000

  • Garden Terrace Senior Living – $5,000 Covid-safe delivery of senior meals
  • Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue Volunteer Firefighters Assoc – $16,500 Covid equipment upgrades and meal kits
  • Lighthouse Christian Ministries – $15,000 Gospel House and Food Market
  • Nurse-Family Partnership $2,000 Telehealth enhancements and nurse consultation support for Chelan County
  • Off the Streets Wenatchee Valley – $5,000 Security deposits for homeless individuals/families that have secured housing
  • Okanogan County Long Term Recovery Group – $50,000 Pandemic impacts on fire recovery
  • Omak Food Bank – $8,500 Food relief and support

December 1, 2020 Awards – $22,000

  • Okanogan Behavioral Healthcare – $12,000 Highland Clubhouse (a place that supports those in recovery from mental illness, substance/opioid use disorders, and/or are living with developmental disabilities) covid-safe connections and meals
  • Saddlerock Education Association – $10,000 Pre-K childcare services in Cashmere

October 1, 2020 Awards – $65,560

  • Chelan Douglas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) – $5,000 Child abuse outreach
  • Chelan Valley Hope – $25,000 Capacity building support
  • Hope Care Clinic – $9,360 Dental Assistant Position for program that provides dental care for uninsured/underinsured
  • Leavenworth Community United Methodist Church – $5,700 Leavenworth Backback food program for hungry children
  • Serve Wenatchee Valley $5,500 Fresh HOPE Market, a food bank that includes fresh produce
  • Wenatchee Rescue Mission – $15,000 Community Meal Program

  • Alano Club of Wenatchee – $6,000 Covid impact on AA and NA meetings
  • Mountain Sprouts Children’s Community – $7,303 Pre-K Childcare in Upper Valley

  • Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington – $5,000 Volunteer Services PPE and basic needs/food security/home improvements for low-income seniors and adults with disabilities
  • Children’s Home Society of Washington – $10,000 Costs for providing program support virtually (Therapeutic Foster Care, Child and Family Counseling, Wraparound Intensive Services, Parenting Program, Readiness to Learn)
  • Pateros Brewster Community Resource Center – $9,200 Expanded staffing and office hours to meet the demands of Covid-19

June 1, 2020 Awards – $12,000

  • Early Learning Collaborative – $3,000 PPE for licensed early learning programs
  • Green Okanogan – $2,000 PPE and safety/hygiene materials to protect customers and crew
  • Leavenworth Mountain Association – $1,000 Recoup costs from cancelled Rockfest event
  • Okanogan County Child Development Association – $3,000 Imagination Library program
  • Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho – $3,000 PPE for Wenatchee clinic

  • Apple Hill Art Camps – $3,000 Alternative Summer Program
  • Catholic Charities – $500 PPE and supplies for resident services at St. Jude’s Landing housing sites in Wenatchee
  • Community Choice – $2,000 Virtual delivery training for Chronic Disease Self-Management Education workshops to protect wellness of older adults and vulnerable populations
  • SAGE – $3,000 Support for increased costs of telecommunications services for increased domestic violence crisis calls
  • Methow Valley Theater – $2,225 Recoup costs from cancelled show
  • Pybus Market Charitable Foundation – $3,000 Support partnership with Wenatchee Valley Farmer’s Market for 1:1 match on SNAP purchases of fresh vegetables
  • Wenatchee for Immigrant Justice – $3,000 Helping immigrant families with basic needs (food, electricity, water, gas)

  • Chelan Community Nurse Program – $3,000 Adapting services for social distancing and preparing for an increase of in-home services as shelter in place eases
  • Entiat Food Bank – $3,000 Food security improvements
  • Ingalls Creek Enrichment Center – $1,230 for a commercial freezer to store food for Upper Valley MEND’s gleaning program, which provides fresh produce for food bank
  • Methow Arts Alliance – $3,000 resources for NCW art teachers and home delivery kits; recouping direct costs from cancelled events
  • Okanogan Behavioral Health Care – $3,000 mental illness/substance abuse recovery program delivery adaptations during Covid and recouping direct costs from cancelled event
  • Okanogan Valley Orchestra and Chorus – $2,462 Recouping direct costs from cancelled concert
  • Tonasket Food Bank – $3,000 serving 58% more individuals/families needing food
  • Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center – $3,000 Recouping direct costs from cancelled events

  • Methow at Home – $2,028 Free memberships for 6 aging in place residents during Covid, such as food delivery and phone buddy system
  • Methow Housing Trust – $1,500 Support for providing Covid-related housing resources to individuals in need
  • Numerica PAC – $3,000 Recouping direct costs for cancelled events and production of digital campaign for 2021 season
  • Office Moms and Dads – $1,804 Basic needs, therapeutic toys, and increased recruitment for volunteers who provide companionship to children during office visits that are transitioning to foster care
  • Okanogan Land Trust – $1,035 Updated equipment for safe remote work
  • Okanogan Regional Humane Society – $2,560 Recouping direct costs for cancelled events
  • PowerHouse Ministries – $1,000 Sanitation and supplies for day shelter for homeless individuals
  • The Cove – $3,000 Support for increased individuals and families needing food and financial help

  • The Community for the Advancement of Family Education (CAFÉ) – $3,000 Outreach to Spanish-speaking community on Covid-19 and available resources
  • Thrive Chelan Valley – $3,000 Weekend food support for Chelan/Manson students
  • TwispWorks Foundation – $3,000 Connecting small local businesses impacted to resources
  • Wellness Place – $3,000 Gas cards for patients needing to travel to appointments and increased costs for shipping nutritional food
  • Wenatchee River Institute – $750 Recoup direct costs for cancelled eventdue to public health guidelines
  • Wenatchee Valley Dispute Resolution Center – $1,000 Technology and equipment to support the move to Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) mediation services
  • Wenatchee Valley Humane Society – $3,000 Pet Food Pantry that provides for low-income pet owners
  • Wenatchee Valley Symphony Association – $1,600 Recoup direct costs for cancelled event due to public health guidelines
