Andrew York Memorial SCHOLARSHIP
The Andrew York Memorial Scholarship was established by Chelan County PUD employees to honor the memory of a co-worker, Andrew York, who was killed in a tragic accident. This scholarship is dedicated to increasing opportunities for public education and awareness about the tragedies caused by impaired driving and the dangers of not wearing seat belts. The committee seeks to honor graduating seniors in Washington State who are active in the community by providing awareness to prevent impaired or distracted driving caused by influences such as drug, alcohol, and marijuana use or texting while driving and/or those who are pursuing a lineman or substation training program. Applicants are eligible regardless of financial need or grade point average.

Eligibility:
- Graduating senior in the state of Washington
- Must meet one of the following:
- Be active in school or the community raising awareness about preventing impaired or distracted driving (due to illicit drugs, alcohol, marijuana, or texting) and the dangers of not wearing seatbelts, and/or
- Be pursuing a career as an electrical lineman or substation wireman through a pre-apprenticeship or apprenticeship program.
- Preference:
- First preference: Applicants who meet both #2-1 and #2-2
- Second preference: Applicants or are a child or grandchild of an IBEW Local 77 member or Washington State Public Utility District employee with verifiable documentation
Applicant must be accepted into an accredited college, university, trade school or applied to a pre-apprenticeship/apprenticeship electrical lineman program in USA to receive scholarship funds.
