Lucas Banks Memorial SCHOLARSHIP
This memorial scholarship is offered by the family and friends of a vibrant young man who lived life to the fullest during his 20 years. Lucas loved the outdoors and spent lots of time adventuring in the mountains, oceans, and rivers with his family and friends from Leavenworth to Hawaii and beyond. Leavenworth held a particularly special place in his heart growing up thanks to family connections and frequent visits to the area. Once, on a visit to his grandparent’s home in Leavenworth when he was 7 years old, he exclaimed “I’m going to live here when I grow up!”
He was a deep thinker, kind, curious, witty, always moving, compassionate, adventurous, and a thoughtful giver. Naturally, these qualities drew people to Lucas and many lasting friendships were made as a result. He loved to fix things and work or play hard and was always ready and willing to help those in need whether it was helping to fix a broken motorbike or a broken heart.
There in lied his ambition to work in a field where he could make a positive impact in others’ lives. Lucas was considering a career in firefighting and emergency services and had just started on that path when he passed. This scholarship is offered to honor his memory and is available to Cascade High School seniors and recent graduates with a similar heart for helping others and pursuing careers in the trades, firefighting, or emergency services.
