Inga, Magnus and Knute Bakke Memorial SCHOLARSHIP

The Inga, Magnus and Knute Bakke Memorial Scholarship was established in 2019 to support students from the town of Leavenworth where Knute Aksel Bakke was born and raised.  In 1953, Knute graduated from Leavenworth High School, where he had been a valued member of the ski team.  After some time as a U.S. Army veteran who served in Korea, Knute returned home where he worked at the Leavenworth Ranger Station and retired after fulfilling his 30 years of service.  He will be fondly remembered for his enthusiasm for golf, his colorful personality and this thoughtful legacy to his community. "My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. [He] told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.”

STRATEGIC CONSULTING GRANT RECIPIENT

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated Aero Methow Rescue Service must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service.  This program allows our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.
