Robert C and Barbara M Alexander Nursing SCHOLARSHIP

The Robert C. and Barbara M. Alexander Nursing Scholarship started as every morning should – over a good breakfast.  While Bob and Barbie were enjoying a morning meal at their favorite local breakfast stop, they befriended a waitress who dreamed of going back to school.  Over the next couple of years, Bob and Barbie helped this hard-working woman through school to pursue a nursing career.  Established in 2019, the goal of the Robert C. and Barbara M. Alexander Nursing Scholarship is to help bridge the gap and make attending college more financially possible for those who wish to purse a degree in Nursing at Wenatchee Valley College.  This scholarship is available to students who will be starting their second year of an RN or BSN program at WVC and graduated from a Chelan, Douglas or Okanogan county High School.

"My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. [He] told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.”

STRATEGIC CONSULTING GRANT RECIPIENT

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated Aero Methow Rescue Service must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service.  This program allows our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.
