Wenatchee Women’s Bowling Association – Opal Wickland SCHOLARSHIP

The Wenatchee Women’s Bowling Association – Opal Wickland Scholarship was established through the Wenatchee Women’s Bowling Association by a donation from Cheryl Pope in her mother’s name. Opal Wickland was a top bowler in the Wenatchee WBA during 1960s and 1970s. The association has been adding to the fund each year. The WBA wanted a way to recognize and reward the youth bowlers in the Wenatchee Valley. The Association hopes to enable some lucky students to pursue their dreams of a college education and thus a future career. The scholarship is open to youth bowlers in the Wenatchee Valley. They might be members of our youth association, active bowlers in the high school programs, or family members of our WVUSBC members.

"My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. [He] told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.”

STRATEGIC CONSULTING GRANT RECIPIENT

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated Aero Methow Rescue Service must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service.  This program allows our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.
