WILDFIRE RESOURCES

The Community Foundation of North Central Washington has over ten years of experience working closely with community partners to assist in the long-term recovery efforts for survivors of wildfires.

If you're looking to offer immediate assistance or have been affected by the Chelan Hills or B & O wildfires, we encourage donations to the organizations listed below.

CHELAN VALLEY HOPE

Chelan Valley Hope provides assistance, advocacy, and referral service to under-resourced families and individuals throughout the Greater Chelan Valley. They are actively working with those who have lost their homes to help with temporary shelter, food, and other basic needs.

B & O fire

As this is a newly-developing fire, support resources have not yet been identified. Please check back as this situation develops.

Long-term recovery

While immediate needs are being addressed by organizations on the ground, recovery continues long after a fire is contained. Through the NCW Fire Relief Fund, the Community Foundation works with nonprofit partners and relies on the extensive work of in-person case managers who work side-by-side with the survivors of wildfires to ensure that all available federal, state and volunteer resources have been exhausted before determining an individualized list of unmet needs.

Donations to the NCW Fire Relief Fund are used for this long-term recovery: to help families rebuild, relocate, and re-establish their lives in whatever form that might take.  Dollars from this fund are deployed after this process to ensure that funds are being used in the most responsible, non-duplicative and effective manner possible.

Due to this process, monetary needs for the various wildfires that happen throughout our region cannot be ascertained quickly. Therefore, we do not earmark this fund for specific fires. Rather, we use it as a collective resource for inevitable wildfires that impact our entire region.

Join us in supporting the long-term recovery of our communities by making a gift to the NCW Fire Relief Fund.

GRANT RECIPIENT

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated, we must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service. The grant allowed our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.

My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. He told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.
