The Community Foundation of NCW has distributed $31,800 in the last year through the NCW Foundation for Youth Grant, supporting programs that directly benefit young people across Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties.

Since its inception in 2017, the NCW Foundation for Youth grant program has offered funding opportunities up to $1,000 for projects and programs that serve youth throughout North Central Washington. These grants are awarded every other month, allowing for timely and responsive support to nonprofits and public agencies working on the ground with local youth.

This year’s funding has supported a wide range of initiatives, including arts and music programs, outdoor recreation, youth leadership, basic needs, and a large percentage went to support food insecurity. Among the recipients is the long-standing “Shop with a Cop” initiative, administered by the Wenatchee and East Wenatchee Police Departments. Due to a special agreement carried over from a previous grant program, this initiative is eligible for larger funding and continues to make a significant impact in the lives of local children during the holiday season.

“Our goal is to provide direct funding resources to local organizations that are creating safe, supportive, and enriching opportunities for youth,” said Beth Stipe, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of NCW. “This funding allows them to be flexible and responsive in meeting the evolving needs of the young people they serve.”

The NCW Foundation for Youth Grant accepts applications year-round, with reviews and awards taking place every other month. For more information, visit www.cfncw.org/grants.

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated, we must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service. The grant allowed our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.

My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. He told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.
