Woods Family Music & Arts Grant Awards $67,400 to Support Creative Programs Across NCW

The Community Foundation of North Central Washington (CFNCW) is pleased to announce the 2025 grant recipients of the Woods Family Music & Arts Grant, awarding $67,400 to 63 nonprofit organizations and schools to expand access to arts and culture across Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties.

The grant provides awards of up to $5,000 for operating expenses or project-specific support, with a focus on youth and underrepresented audiences. It also celebrates the region’s cultural heritage by supporting high-quality arts programming in communities throughout North Central Washington.

“We were truly impressed by the care reflected in this year’s applications,” said fundholder Rufus Woods. “There’s a lot of need across our region, and we wish we could fund every request. We’re thankful for the work these nonprofits and schools are doing to bring arts and music programs to kids and adults who might otherwise be left out.”

The Woods Family Music & Arts Grant was established in 2011 and is administered through a Field of Interest Fund at CFNCW. Rooted in commitment to creativity, belonging, and cultural connection across North Central Washington, the grant works to reduce the cost and geographic barriers so that more people can participate in the arts. This structure helps ensure the fund is responsive and continues to meet the region’s needs for years to come.

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated, we must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service. The grant allowed our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.

My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. He told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.
