Registration Now Open for Give NCW Turkey Trot Thanksgiving Day Run

Registration for the 3rd annual Give NCW Turkey Trot Thanksgiving Day run in Wenatchee is now open. The event kicks off the Community Foundation’s Give NCW annual online giving campaign which raises funds for 100 nonprofits across North Central Washington. The race includes timed 5K and 10K runs on the Apple Capital Loop Trail, along with an untimed kids race that will be within the boat launch parking lot. All proceeds from the event will benefit the nonprofit organizations that participate in the Give NCW.

Community Foundation NCW Turkey Trot Give NCW kicks off

The race will start and finish at Pybus Public Market, adjacent to the loop trail. The kids’ race will begin at 9:00am, followed by the 10K at 9:15am and the 5K at 9:30am. The registration fee for the 5k is $20 and 10k is $30; the kids’ race is free.

Registration deadline is Wednesday, November 26th at 8:00pm. There will be no day-of registration.

New this year, participants will have the option to add their canine companion to their registration for an additional $5. The first 150 dogs to sign up will receive a custom Turkey Trot bandana and be entered into a drawing for a gift basket from Firehouse Pet Shop.

There will be two aid stations along the course — one at the 5K turnaround and one at the 10K turnaround — each stocked with water and Gatorade. Porta potties will be available at the start and finish, but not along the course.

Wenatchee Valley Medical Group is the presenting sponsor of this family-friendly event. Gold sponsors this year are Cordell Neher & Co. and Cashmere Valley Bank. The sponsorships allow the Community Foundation to keep registration fees low and maximize the contributions back to the nonprofit organizations. Café Mela will be donating coffee and hot cocoa and Crunch-Pak is donating apple snacks.

The first 750 paid registrants will receive a pair of commemorative Turkey Trot socks. There will be a contest for “Best Dressed Individual” and “Best Dressed Group”. The individual winner will receive a $500 Giving Card and the Group will receive $1,000 Giving Card which can be redeemed on Give NCW to donate to one or more nonprofits of their choice.

GRANT RECIPIENT

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated, we must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service. The grant allowed our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.

My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. He told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.
