Mansfield Community Fund Grant Applications Open on April 1, 2026

The Community Foundation of North Central Washington (CFNCW) announces that applications for the Mansfield Fund Grant will open April 1, 2026. Nonprofit organizations serving the Mansfield community are eligible to apply for funding through the

Mansfield Fund. Mansfield nonprofits, community-based projects through local government, and projects benefiting the Mansfield School District are encouraged to apply. The deadline for applications is May 1, 2026.

Following submission, each application is reviewed by the Mansfield Community Fund Advisory Committee with grant recommendations made to the Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Priority is given to projects that provide enhancements to existing programs (rather than core operating needs), have limited access to other funding sources, and that support the work of dedicated community volunteers.

The Mansfield Fund was created through the estate of lifelong resident Neil Asmussen, a Mansfield wheat farmer who passed in 2022 and left a lasting gift to support his hometown. As an endowed fund, the Mansfield Fund is designed for long-term community support—providing annual grants year after year to nonprofits and activities in areas such as arts and culture, civic projects, conservation and environment, health and human services, and education.

“It’s inspiring to see community members invest in the places they call home,” says Jennifer Short, CFNCW’s Director of Community Grants. “That spirit of generosity is at the heart of the annual community grants.”

Donations can be made anytime to the Mansfield Community Fund’s endowment for long-term community support, or you can contribute to the annual pool of money that is distributed in current grantmaking efforts. Increasing the endowment or the annual spendable pool is a way that donors can directly enhance the community’s resources and ensure greater sustainability for local programs.

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated, we must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service. The grant allowed our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.

My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. He told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.
