indiahouseWenatchee’s India House Restaurant Donating Sales Nepal Earthquake Relief Efforts

Our friends at he India House Restaurant are donating sales to support relief efforts in Nepal. We are sharing the following press release on behalf of the India House to help spread the word!

The India House Restaurant in Wenatchee will be donating 50% of their sales on Tuesday, June 23rd and Wednesday, June 24th to the Red Cross earthquake relief efforts in Nepal.

The India House Restaurant is locally owned by D.D. and spokesperson Manoj Kumar commented “They are our neighbors, we are from India and we cannot ignore the need they have so we wanted to help and this is what we think would be the best way.”

Relief teams from around the world have been working to provide water, food, shelter and medical assistance to Nepal since the magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck on April 25, 2015. On May 12, a second major earthquake hit the country.

More than 8,600 people died in the earthquakes, which destroyed more than 500,000 homes and left huge numbers of people without shelter with just weeks until the monsoon rains.

The India House Restaurant is located in historic downtown Wenatchee in the “Wenatchee Hotel Building”, 105 South Wenatchee Avenue. The restaurant will be open from 11am-8pm on both days.

GRANT RECIPIENT

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated, we must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service. The grant allowed our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.

My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. He told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.
