Chelan Lookout Offers $10,000 Match for Chelan Valley Fire Relief Fund

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

The Chelan Lookout, a residential community in the city of Chelan, is offering a dollar for dollar match up to $10,000 for all gifts to the Chelan Valley Fire Relief Fund. The match begins on August 19, 2015 and ends when fulfilled.

“This is such a great example of how people in our communities come together in hard times” said Beth Stipe, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of NCW. “It’s unfortunate that we’re in a situation again where our friends and neighbors need our help. We’ve received donations from across the country and we are so grateful.”

The Community Foundation is in direct contact with the service agencies helping fire victims by determining their needs and finding resources available to them. The fire relief fund helps to meet many of those needs. Fire victims should be sure to register with the Red Cross and seek services from Chelan Valley Hope.

You can give online to the Chelan Valley Fire Relief Fund or mail/deliver your donation to the Community Foundation at 9 S Wenatchee Ave, Wenatchee, WA 98801.

GRANT RECIPIENT

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated, we must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service. The grant allowed our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.

My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. He told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.
