Hugs for Healthcare Heroes to Support Healthcare Workers and Local Businesses

The Community Foundation of NCW has partnered with several local agencies to show support for local healthcare workers and local businesses through the Hugs for Healthcare Heroes campaign.

Hugs for Healthcare Heroes will put together a “Hug in a Mug” filled with gift cards from local businesses and notes of encouragement and distribute to healthcare workers.

For those who are unable to purchase gift cards in-store, donations are accepted at www.cfncw.org/HUGS that will go toward the purchase of gift cards or can be mailed or delivered to the Community Foundation office.

Notes of encouragement are also being added to the mugs and can be mailed or delivered to the Community Foundation at 9 S Wenatchee Ave, Wenatchee WA 98801.

“The pandemic has taken a toll on many individuals and families in our community, and we know our front-line healthcare workers are working tirelessly to care for patients to meet the demands this is causing on our healthcare system” said Beth Stipe, the foundation’s executive director.

“With Central Washington Hospital at capacity, healthcare workers are tired and depleted. We wanted to find a way to show them our support so they know they are appreciated” said Stipe. “This program also helps boost our local businesses who are struggling now too, so we feel like this effort is a win-win.”

"My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. [He] told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.”

STRATEGIC CONSULTING GRANT RECIPIENT

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated Aero Methow Rescue Service must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service.  This program allows our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.
