Give Methow Raises $940,667 for Local Nonprofits

The Community Foundation of NCW’s online fundraising campaign, Give Methow, celebrated its tenth year by breaking another record, raising $940,677 during the month of October to support Methow Valley nonprofits.

Give Methow was launched in 2015 to increase awareness of local nonprofit programs and to make giving easy, enabling people to contribute at any level. Give Methow accepts donations starting at just $10 and is open to any 501(c)(3) nonprofit or fiscally sponsored organization based in the Methow Valley. To ensure 100% of each contribution goes directly to the nonprofits, the Community Foundation covers any credit card fees not paid by donors.

Included in the record-breaking sum were donations directed to the forty-seven participating Methow Valley nonprofits and to a Give To All match pool, which distributed additional grants to each nonprofit.  The match pool included contributions from The Methow Valley Fund, The Community Foundation of NCW, a significant anonymous donation, and individual gifts.

In addition to individual donations and matching funds, the campaign featured Funday Monday events throughout October. Donors who contributed on Mondays were entered into drawings for $500 Give Methow Giving Cards, with a total of $4,500 in prizes awarded to nonprofits chosen by the winners.

“Give Methow is the perfect recipe for highlighting the Methow Valley’s secret sauce,” said Ashley Lodato, a Community Foundation of NCW Board Member. “With a wide community of residents and visitors who care about the Methow Valley and a thriving network of nonprofit organizations that help make the valley so special, Give Methow offers an opportunity for those who love the Methow Valley to play a key role in keeping its landscape, community, and economy strong into the future. Thank you to all who participated in the Give Methow crowdfunding campaign–you are helping Methow Valley nonprofits cook up great things!”

Give Methow’s year-over-year growth reflects the collaborative spirit of the Methow Valley, as community members and local businesses come together to strengthen the work of local nonprofits.

“What an amazing 10th anniversary! Thank you so much to all who gave during Give Methow. Just think about all the ways these 47 nonprofits will continue to give back to our community over the next decade!” said Sara Joy Steele, Give Methow Committee Chair.

For its 10th anniversary celebration, Give Methow showed up where community happens–at local gatherings and events across the valley. Rather than hosting a single kickoff, the campaign joined in on celebrations already underway where attendees could enter drawings for $100 Give Methow Giving Cards, with 50 cards given out in total during the campaign. Winners chose which nonprofits to support or let their gift roll into the “Give to All” pool to benefit every organization in the campaign. Events included the Mazama Community Club gathering, the Methow Descendants’ Open House, and Methow Conservancy’s Cider Squeeze–just a few of the many that brought people together in the Methow Valley this giving season.

Aero Methow Rescue Service

GRANT RECIPIENT

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated, we must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service. The grant allowed our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.

My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. He told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.
