The NCW Foundation for Youth is a field of interest fund, created to provide funding for programs that directly benefit youth in Chelan and Douglas counties. The NCW Foundation for Youth Grant offers up to $1,000 in funding for nonprofits, schools, clubs, and community organizations serving local youth. To date, the fund has granted over $226,000 across Chelan and Douglas counties.

Effective July 1, 2026, the grant program will include updated criteria and a new application review schedule. The program will now place greater focus on smaller organizations, with preference given to nonprofits with annual operating expenses under $250,000. Applications will also be reviewed three times per year instead of every other month.

While operational updates are being implemented, the core purpose of the grant remains unchanged: helping remove barriers and create opportunities for youth throughout North Central Washington. Special consideration continues to be given to programs that either serve a large number of youth or provide access to experiences and opportunities that may otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable.

Over the years, the grant has supported a wide range of youth-centered initiatives, including field trips, afterschool programs, transportation assistance, youth safety equipment, scholarships, clothing and food assistance, access to recreational and educational opportunities, and more. The fund also supports annual holiday giving programs in partnership with local law enforcement, including the Wenatchee Police Department’s Shop with Cops program and the East Wenatchee Police Department’s Eastmont Elves program.

Requests typically not funded include fundraising events, facility improvements, venue rentals, staffing costs, marketing expenses, and out-of-state travel.

Applications for the NCW Foundation for Youth Grant are accepted year-round. Organizations that receive funding must wait 12 months before applying again, and awarded funds must be spent within six months.

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated, we must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service. The grant allowed our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.

My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. He told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.
