Hugs for Healthcare Heroes
Donate by March 17th!
How it Works
Our local hospital is on the brink and healthcare workers are tired and depleted. The pandemic has taken a toll on all of us, but perhaps more so on those in healthcare who are directly impacted on a daily basis: nurses, physicians assistants, lab technicians, respiratory therapists, housekeeping staff, and so many others!
Let’s show our appreciation for their sacrifices and give them a little “Hug in a Mug” to let them know we care.
Together with community members and local businesses, we are raising funds to buy gift cards and goods from local businesses as a token of appreciation for our healthcare workers. We will assemble “mugs” (coffee mugs, water bottles, or tumblers) filled with gift cards from local businesses and notes of encouragement to deliver to employees at our local healthcare facilities.
We know there are hundreds of healthcare workers within many departments working to keep us safe and who deserve recognition. The number of mugs and gift cards we are able to give out will depend on donations but we will work with each facility to make the distribution process as equitable as possible. We will continue filling and distributing mugs until the funds runs out!
Participating facilities: Confluence Health, Lake Chelan Community Hospital, and Columbia Valley Community Health. Congratulations to Cascade Medical Center for completing their campaign!
How to Help
- OPTION 1: Donate online by Wednesday, March 17th and we’ll purchase gift cards on your behalf.
- OPTION 2: Purchase gift cards from your favorite local businesses and we will add them to the mugs. Deliver or mail them before March 17th to the Community Foundation at 9 S Wenatchee Ave, Wenatchee WA 98801.
- OPTION 3: Write notes of encouragement and gratitude. We will deliver notes and cards in the mugs for healthcare workers. Deliver or mail them before March 17th to the Community Foundation at 9 S Wenatchee Ave, Wenatchee WA 98801.
- OPTION 4: Paint your own mug for a healthcare hero from Inspirations Ceramic & Art Cafe! Mugs must be returned to the ceramic studio by March 17th to be glazed and fired in the kiln in time. If ordering online, please write “Hugs for Healthcare Heroes” in the note when you checkout.
This is a WIN-WIN to support small, local businesses and send a hug to the healthcare workers! Every donation makes a difference so THANK YOU for your support.
Hug in a Mug Distributions
March 2, 2021
Today 224 Confluence Health employees received a Hug in a Mug, including: Central Washington Hospital (CWH) Chaplains, Radiology, Security Departments, Hospitalists, Pulmonary and Critical Care providers, Walk-in Clinics, CWH and Wenatchee Valley Hospital Emergency Departments, and the Covid drive-through and hotline workers.
To date, 734 employees have received a Hug in a Mug!
We’ve still got a few more distributions planned – if you would like to donate to help us complete that effort and/or write notes of encouragement, we will be accepting both until March 17th.
January 25, 2021
Today 510 healthcare workers at Central Washington Hospital received a Hug in a Mug!
This first round of mugs have been delivered to front-line employees in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) PCU (Progressive Care Unit), Respiratory Care, Rehab, Inpatient Lab, Environmental Services, Pharmacy, Resource Team, Infectious Control, and the Emergency Department.
The mugs are sourced from local businesses and filled with $20 worth of local gift cards, snacks, and other goodies. Each mug also contains notes of encouragement from students, community groups, and families.
Over $25,000 has been donated to Hugs for Healthcare Heroes to support employees at Confluence Health, Columbia Valley Community Health, Lake Chelan Hospital, and Cascade Medical Center. We used these funds to purchase the mugs and fill them with gift cards, which has supported over 60 local businesses!
We are gearing up for another round of mugs, but still need your help to ensure as many employees as possible receive a Hug in a Mug. We know that there are so many more that deserve and need our appreciation and support!
We’d also love more notes of encouragement! They can be dropped off at the Community Foundation at 9 S Wenatchee Ave in the no-contact drop box.
Special Thanks to: Wenatchee Downtown Association, Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce, Chelan-Douglas Health District, Heather Dappen Designs, Cashmere Valley Bank, and North Central Accountable Community of Health.
