Community Foundation Welcomes New Members to the Board of Trustees

The Community Foundation of NCW welcomes four new members to its Board of Trustees: Megan Collyer, Dr. Jennifer Jorgensen, Rosario Nystrom, and Rufus Woods.

The Board of Trustees are responsible for oversight of the foundation and ensuring the region’s charitable endowment is well-managed and protected for generations to come. Trustees agree to serve three 3-year terms and participate on committees such as grants, scholarships, investments, and governance.

New CFNCW Board of Trustee Members

  • Megan Collyer holds a Masters in Social Work and the Director of Home Based Services for Confluence Health. She has a strong investment in the North Central Washington region – she has served on multiple local boards and has owned and operated downtown businesses in Wenatchee. She is a wife and a mother of two busy teenagers. Megan and her family love to take advantage of everything the region has to offer, from the outdoors to supporting local businesses and enjoying local events.
  • Jennifer Jorgensen is a gastroenterologist and the President of the Wenatchee Valley Medical Group. After spending 9 years as an Internal Medicine physician in the Army and completing a GI fellowship at the University of Michigan, she and her husband and three boys moved to Wenatchee. They love the outdoor recreation opportunities and the sense of a warm and welcoming community. Jennifer is dedicated to improving the health of her community and is looking forward to contributing her time and talents to the work of the Community Foundation.
  • Rosario Nystrom is the Managing Director of Human Resources at the Chelan County PUD. She holds a Master of Business Administration and is currently pursuing a second Master’s in Human Resource Management and Employment Law. A former Community Foundation scholarship recipient, Rosario experienced the impact the foundation has on the region. She is excited to be a trustee and actively advocate for education and equal opportunities.
  • Rufus Woods is a retired editor and publisher of The Wenatchee World and continues to write a column and blog dedicated to fostering a stronger sense of community throughout North Central Washington. He serves as a Trustee for the Wenatchee Valley YMCA and is on the advisory board of Common Ground Community Housing Trust. He enjoys spending time outdoors as a cyclist, skier, hiker, and sailor.

The Foundation is grateful for and appreciates the outgoing board members Peter Valaas, Deborah Hartl, Misty Viebrock, Paster Matt Canlis, and Mark Spurgeon who have dedicated many years of their time and talents to the Community Foundation.

Aero Methow Rescue Service

GRANT RECIPIENT

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated, we must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service. The grant allowed our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.

My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. He told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.
