Community Foundation of NCW to host Thanksgiving Day Run to kick off Give NCW Campaign

The Community Foundation of NCW announces the Give NCW Turkey Trot, a new Thanksgiving Day run in Wenatchee to kick off the Give NCW annual giving campaign. The event will offer timed 5K and 10K options as well as an untimed 1K fun run for children. All proceeds from the event will be shared equally among the nonprofit organizations that participate in the Give NCW campaign through the Give to All pool.

CFNCW is proud to announce Wenatchee Valley Medical Group as the presenting sponsor of the event. Their sponsorship will keep registration fees low and maximize the contributions back to the nonprofit organizations.  While average registration fees for 5K and 10K runs range in the $40 to $60 range, registration for the Give NCW Turkey Trot will be $20 for the 5K and $30 for the 10K; the kids’ run is free of charge.

The start and finish lines will be located on the East side parking lot of Pybus Market and the run will take place on the Apple Capitol Loop Trail along the riverfront. CFNCW is encouraging participants to have fun with this event – awards will be offered not only for the top finishers but also for the best costume and most spirited group effort. Before and after the run, coffee and snacks compliments of Café Mela, Crunch Pak, and other local businesses will be offered. Note that Pybus Market will not be open on Thanksgiving Day.

Registration for the run will open in late September. “We have been wanting to organize a community celebration to kick off Give NCW for years.” said Community Foundation Executive Director, Beth Stipe. “We hope that the Give NCW Turkey Trot becomes a cherished tradition in our region – a fun way to kick off the holiday season and support your local nonprofits along the way.”

About the Wenatchee Valley Medical Group

The Wenatchee Valley Medical Group (WVMG) consists of nearly 300 physicians who provide region-wide care representing roughly 50 distinct medical specialties. WVMG physicians live and work in many of the communities of North Central Washington—from Oroville to Wenatchee, Cashmere to Moses Lake, and we are the largest physician group affiliated with Confluence Health.

WVMG’s charitable aim is to support the health and quality of life for all residents of our region through meaningful support of projects, events, people, and organizations. Dr. Jennifer Jorgensen, President of WMG states: “We couldn’t be more excited about being the presenting sponsor of the First Annual Give NCW Turkey Trot. Our commitment will help keep entry fees exceptionally low and promote wide participation. It’s our honor to help facilitate the new Give NCW Turkey Trot and we believe it is a great opportunity to get active, give thanks, and enjoy family, community, and each other.”

GRANT RECIPIENT

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated, we must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service. The grant allowed our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.

My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. He told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.
