Family Health Centers of North Central Washington (FHC) in Okanogan County was awarded one of our Regional Impact Grants to purchase blood pressure monitors so patients with hypertension can monitor themselves from home. Okanogan is a rural county over 5,000 square miles with many residents lacking easy access to direct health services. These BP monitors can be lifesaving for them - and FHC studies show a significant increase in patients with monitors are better controlling their blood pressure by exercising, losing weight, and quitting smoking. Fun summer job!Join WRI's summer camp team! The Summer Camp Educator Intern position is an opportunity to learn under the supervision and guidance of experienced environmental educators. In this role, interns will assist with the planning and delivery of WRI Youth Summer Camps from mid-June through mid-August. The grant provided funds to hire a Housing Justice and Outreach Coordinator to visit rural and underserved areas. Rosie’s bilingual and bicultural skills and experience have increased equity of service. Rosie is building partnerships with local organizations through events such as the Columbia Valley Community Health’s Back to School Drive, as well as posting yard signs.
