The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office received a Regional Impact Grant in 2014 that helped to purchase radios for their Reserve Deputy Program.

Up to $5,000 for Nonprofits in North Central Washington

The Community Foundation of NCW is now accepting applications for its Regional Impact Grants (RIG) program. RIG provides up to $5,000 to support nonprofit organizations in Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties.

Regional Impact Grants fund general operations, special programs, needs, and enhancements that impact the quality of life for communities in the region.

Applications are completed online; deadline is April 1.

The RIG program will be changing after this cycle of awards to a program that allows for greater impact and more effectively responds to the needs of the community.

Details on the new program and requirements will be released in March. There will also be an information session at the Nonprofit Practices Institute Summit on May 18 in Chelan, Washington.

Applicants that receive an RIG award for this current cycle will not be eligible for the first year of the new program. For questions on how this might impact a request, email grants@cfncw.org.

Additionally, public schools are no longer eligible for RIGs. Funding for schools is now supported through the new “Stronger Schools” and “STEAM Teacher Grants” programs, which are currently open and accepting applications.

Due to being rural, remote, and geographically isolated, we must be prepared to do more than respond to emergencies. We have become a healthcare partner who fills gaps in service. The grant allowed our board the time and ability to work with a Strategic Planner to modify our plan to address those gaps.

My father was a migrant agricultural worker who eventually started his own cherry and apple orchard. He told me if I wanted to live a better life, I had to get an education. I plan on starting a career with the Chelan PUD with a passion for renewable energy and in turn give back to my parents and community for supporting my dreams.
